Cropper/Welsh/Roscoe Piano Trio - 7:30pm, Saturday 16th April 2011

This Trio brings together three outstanding musicians, each of whom has made his mark elsewhere.

Peter Cropper was for many years leader of one of the UK's best-known string quartets, The Lindsays, which he founded in 1965. Since the Quartet disbanded in 2005 Peter Cropper has continued to do what he has always enjoyed doing - playing and popularising chamber music, and teaching. Current projects include recording all the Beethoven Piano Trios with this Trio, and the Beethoven sonatas with Martin Roscoe.

Moray Welsh's talents were spotted by Benjamin Britten, who introduced him to Rostropovitch, which led to him studying under the great Russian at the Moscow Conservatoire. His varied career has included eighteen years teaching at the Royal Northern College of Music, a spell as Principal Cellist in the LSO, and chamber music performances with many great musicians.

Martin Roscoe performs as concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician, and has performed with many great conductors in Europe and the Far East. He has played with many of the UK's foremost string quartets, as well as partnering other great chamber players such as Emma Johnson and Tasmin Little, and has made over 400 broadcasts for the BBC.
